Marine Life
Utila boasts an abundance of marine life: whale sharks, eagle rays, grouper, snapper, grunts, barracuda, sea horses, king crabs, lobster...to name a few! The huge variety of Caribbean hard and soft corals, anemones, invertebrates, tunicates and sponges means that your dives will all be colourful experiences, giving you the chance to learn about and appreciate conditions in the Caribbean, whilst helping to preserve the marine environment.

Dive Sites
Utila offers world-renowned diving. This tiny island is surrounded by over 70 dive sites which present a huge diversity of conditions. From caves, walls and drop-offs, to pinnacles and drift dives, there is something for everyone and every experience level. The warm water temperature (27+ degrees), great visibility >25m, and the variety of sites available, mean you will have an incredible insight into the dynamic reef environment off Utila.

Conditions on Utila are ideal for first time divers, a perfect place to learn to dive and gain confidence. Working with Quest Underseas will rapidly improve your level of diving, opening a whole new world.

Dive Training
For this project we require all our volunteers to be PADI Advanced Open Water (or an equivalent qualification from other recognised scuba diving bodies) scuba divers or to have their PADI Open Water qualification plus at least 15 dives. Due to the nature of the research you will be carrying out, it is essential that all divers have full control of their buoyancy and are confident in the water.

Not a diver yet?
That's fine! All volunteers get their PADI Open Water and/or Advanced Open Water qualification through UDC - a dive centre with a fantastic reputation- included in their costs! Divers who are already certified get 4 specialty courses included as well!

Taster Dive
If you have never dived before then we ask all volunteers to try a 'taster dive' before they join the project. Call Chris to find out more 01444 474744 or email chris@questunderseas.com
