- Dive alongside whale sharks and manta rays in the incredible waters of Tofo beach.
- Relax with your team at 'Turtle cove', the local surfing and yoga retreat.
- Contribute to generating the information that can conserve Tofo’s unique culture and marine life.
- Enjoy knowing you are helping Tofo become a well-managed and sustainable dive destination…
Our Whale Shark & Manta Ray Conservation Expedition provides volunteers with amazing opportunities to encounter some seriously impressive marine animals. Past volunteers have been lucky enough to be in the water with migrating Humpback Whales! You will also be supporting international Whale Shark research in this little explored underwater paradise off the coast of Mozambique.
You can opt to join for 2 weeks to 6 months (see the cost breakdown page for all durations and costs). The peak Whale Shark season is between November to April, so weekly snorkel surveys of them will take place, as well as dive surveys of the Manta Rays. Manta Rays are present all year round and Humpback Whales can be seen in local waters from late Summer through till November.
COST: £1,295 + £820 (project contribution) = £2,115 for 4 weeks (including all dives, training, snorkels, dive equipment, food, accommodation, in-country travel, airport transfers and £200 donation to long-term project aims, excluding flights & insurance.)
